Biden Doubles Down on the Musk Investigations

During a White House press conference that happened earlier this week on Wednesday, Biden claimed Elon Musk’s relationships and cooperations with other countries are noteworthy.

He was speaking on the topic of the tech magnate’s recent acquisition of social media platform Twitter.

Oddly enough, Biden’s reply came after a reporter asked whether the fact Musk received financing from Saudi Arabia, among other countries, was a concerning factor. Though Biden met with the Saudis in secrecy only a few months ago.

Musk’s vision of a free speech platform challenged by Biden’s support for investigative action

For the first time ever, Biden refrained from throwing wild accusations, stating while he doesn’t know if there was any inappropriate conduct, he does believe the company acquisition is worthy of an investigation.

In typical Biden fashion though, he gave little to no information on how he actually plans to carry out the investigations, only stating there are lots of ways to do it. Seeing as he’s got his personal FBI task force on speed dial, we all know what’s coming.

However, it’s not uncommon for Saudi Arabia to invest in American tech companies. They’ve even invested a fair amount into Twitter long before Musk even announced that he’d be buying the company.

This critical piece of information didn’t stop Democrats from making the takeover into a social media outrage, calling for the Tesla and SpaceX CEO to be investigated over the deal he’d made with the current Twitter administration.

Major misinformation regarding Twitter floating online

Some are going as far as claiming the acquisition is a threat to national security, one of them being Senator Chris Murphy. He reached as far as he could in claiming the Saudis’ involvement in the takeover bid was “clearly” politically motivated.

Hilariously enough, Murphy made the statement on Twitter, in response to a quote retweet of one of his previous posts, which informed him that the Saudis have been investing in Twitter ever since 2011.

Biden’s comments were equally as deranged, with the president claiming Musk’s purchase of Twitter will allow him to spew lies all across the world. Musk himself made it very clear that the platform will still show no tolerance for misinformation.

While many were looking forward to former President Trump making a comeback on the platform, they were disappointed by Musk, who stated those de-platformed previously will have to wait until the proper protocol is put in place for their return.

He did, however, hint at unbanning Trump’s account; although it’s set to happen after the midterm elections are over. With permanent account bans out of the way, he’s bound to stay on Twitter this time around.

Despite all the misinformation that’s being spread about Twitter following Musk’s takeover, the fact still remains that the eccentric tech CEO’s only wish was to create a neutral environment where free speech is valued above anything else.

That’s admirable in its own right.
