Despite the left’s hate for Donald Trump, the world is a more peaceful place as a result.
Donald Trump has used a unique and unorthodox method to secure peace in all parts of the world during his administration. His negotiation style has been criticized by those on the left, called childish and crazy, but for those smart enough to see the bigger strategy at play, it is genius.
Apart from Trump’s own achievements in diplomacy, he assembled a magnificent team around him that has every praise due in their own right. Mike Pompeo and Jared Kushner have achieved so much, from the Israel-Palestine conflict to the easing of tensions in Serbia and Kosovo.
When presented with peace in the middle east, Kushner insisted on a blank slate. According to The Guardian: “He said flat out, don’t talk to me about history,” said Aaron David Miller, a US peace negotiator for previous administrations who was consulted by Kushner. “He said, I told the Israelis and the Palestinians not to talk to me about history too.”
The unique approach was to completely rethink peace in the middle east. Instead of going straight to the source, Peace between Gaza and Israel, peace and trade would be negotiated.
Previous administrations sought to make peace between Israel and Gaza directly. The Trump administration took a totally unique approach. Start on the edges and work your way in. This strategy works because countries like the UAE and Morocco have no interest in getting involved in conflicts with Israel, but never taught to build relations.
As more and more middle east powers signed peace with Israel, it puts pressure on the core states to do the same. If played out fully, the middle east plan would have it so most states would have relations with Israel, and the ones left out would be pressured to join in.
Donald Trump was the first US president to cross the border into North Korea. His presidency saw a massive de-escalation between the USA, its allies, and North Korea.
His strategy with Korea was one of power, but understanding. Trump stepped up sanctions against North Korea, placing enormous pressure on the nation to change course.
After sanctions for many months, North Korea was on the verge of collapse, and then Donald Trump extended out his hand and said let’s make a deal. The President of South Korea praised Trump for bringing in a new era of de-escalation in the peninsula and deserves credit for negotiations with the north in his own right.
Under the Trump Administration, US forces numbers in the middle east are at an all-time low. Talks with the Taliban have not always been fruitful, but have proven that there is an open window for diplomacy in Afganistan.
