On the first of this month, a New Jersey Republican congresswoman was shot dead in her vehicle. The crime occurred in Sayreville city, a community in south Newark near Brunswick.
Eunice Dwumfour, only 30, had just left her home and gotten into her SUV when she was unexpectedly shot and murdered on the street. According to neighbors, there were more than half a dozen shots fired.
Immediately after the shooting, the SUV crashed into several vehicles that were parked on the street.
Emergency Call Audio Released
On Monday, authorities released audio of an emergency 911 call from the day of the murder. In the audio, you can hear people asking for help about a shooting in front of the councilwoman’s house.
In two audio recordings, two eyewitnesses said they saw a man, all dressed in black, running on foot, after firing numerous rounds at the city councilwoman’s SUV.
It all happened at the Camelot at La Mer housing complex. Another eyewitness handed a video to local authorities, in which it is possible to see the suspect running away after the crime.
Are police now going to get closer to busting open this despicable political assassination?

At a time of increased talk of race/politics, this incident is being practically ignored. FBI is 'investigating' which means the truth will not be forthcoming soon. pic.twitter.com/eFODsg3xNS

Witness Describes What He Saw
A witness described the entire scene he saw through the window of his house. The witness said it was around 7:23 a.m. on February 1. He looked out and saw a man approaching Dwunfour’s SUV, pull out a gun, and fire three times and run off right away.
The witness said he, unfortunately, couldn’t see the shooter’s face, nor the color of his skin or any other details that could help accurately describe the suspect’s profile.
Whereas, he said it was possible to see the person was careful to cover himself completely with an all-black outfit. This account is the same as another neighbor of the dead councilwoman.
Security Camera Footage
Security cameras at the scene show the suspect running into a side corridor shortly after committing the crime. According to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, the rounds hit several parts of the councilwoman’s body who died at the scene.
Sayreville District Council Chairman Christian Onuoha said Dwumfour was an exceptional person who was always willing to help each other. Dwumfour spent most of her life working in a doctor’s office. She was also a pastor and helped many non-profit organizations.
Dwumfour was the biological mother of a 12-year-old girl. She loved her family, as well as her various stepsons.
She is dearly missed by those who loved her; a lot of work remains for the police to find the criminal and uncover the real motivation of the crime.
