Popular Video Game Update Removes Police Car Over Complaints of It Being “Racist”

If you’ve been around long enough to enjoy the beauty of Hanna-Barbera cartoons, you’re probably familiar with how every episode of everyone’s beloved show Scooby-Doo ends, with the culprit being taken away by the police.

However, with so many “woke” changes to media and pop culture, we’ve reached a point where nothing is safe from left-leaning slactivism, not even children’s video games apparently.

Are your child’s video games woke?

In the most recent update to the currently trending multiplayer game MultiVersus, which features dozens of iconic characters from American pop culture, Velma, the Scooby-Doo show character, lost her ability to call the police car.

This would’ve probably blown over, had the change been universal to every character.

Though as it turns out, Velma is only unable to “summon” the police car when the character in question is a black human, such as LeBron James. James is also a playable character, likely due to his involvement with the latest Looney Tunes movie.

Apparently, a number of players complained about her “racist tendencies.” Some even call her a “Karen” for being able to utilize a move the game’s target audience wouldn’t even interpret as racist, given it applies to everyone.

It’s almost as if the entirety of Twitter is so detached from reality they can’t handle a video game character living up to the legacy that the cartoon she’s from left behind. That speaks volumes about the type of people complaining about this stuff.

34 petition signatures are enough in 2022

Soon after the complaints, a Change.org petition was created to bring some “wokeness” into this game targeted at young children.

The reasoning was the cop car isn’t necessary for maintaining the game’s tone and pacing, despite Scooby-Doo’s history of working together with the police.

The petition then segues into yet another CRT-adjacent narrative, claiming the move is concerning, due to “police brutality” sustained by BIPOC communities for the past several decades.

Hilariously enough, the cop car was only removed for when Velma would use it on LeBron. Whereas Shaggy, Arya Stark, and even Batman himself are left to suffer the “police brutality” that’s nowhere to be found in a children’s video game.

Despite the petition having barely 35 signatures at the time of publication, even that little is enough to change things these days.

MultiVersus developers replaced the cop car with the iconic Mystery Machine in the case that Velma used her move on LeBron.

To anyone with a head on their shoulders, this is far worse than the cops being called on someone.

It implies the Scooby-Gang are instead kidnapping these BIPOC characters, rather than surrendering them to the authorities. Although it’s probably best to leave it to the “woke” crowd to figure that one out for themselves.
