DeSantis Getting Closer to Running For POTUS

0

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is one of the leading conservatives in the country. He’s led the fight against the Biden regime from Florida and showed he puts action ahead of words.

DeSantis has become quite a target of liberal media hatred for his efforts to stand up for America; a lot of speculation has swirled about whether it’s all preparation to run for president.

DeSantis said he’s currently focused on how he does in his re-election campaign for Sunshine State governor during the upcoming governor’s race.

Whereas now details are coming out of what looks like behind-the-scenes preparation to run for the White House.

DeSantis Meets Top Donors in Fort Lauderdale

DeSantis is a savvy politician and operator. He formerly served in Congress and he knows how Washington works.

Although he’s said he’s much happier to now be home and able to spend more time with his family, it’s clear to everyone who knows him his political ambitions are burning brightly.

Several days ago, DeSantis met up with a number of his strongest donors and various Republican governors and political insiders from other states in Fort Lauderdale.

He also had media partners in with him, including conservative journalist and commentator Buck Sexton and Josh Hammer.

They had a day of talking and hanging out along with a nice dinner, a speech from DeSantis, and cigars on hand.

Several sources reported to Politico that DeSantis is seriously considering running for POTUS.

DeSantis vs. Trump

It’s clear his main obstacle is a billionaire real estate developer and former POTUS, President Trump.

DeSantis has a lot of money in his war chest and there is a lot of crossover between Trump’s base and fans of DeSantis.

The thing is the two have already clashed several times, most recently with Elon Musk telling Trump that DeSantis could beat him without even campaigning.

Other analysts say the opposite and note that everyone who politically underestimated Trump has been proven absolutely wrong. So, DeSantis should also proceed with caution if he does go up against Trump in the race to become the GOP candidate for 2024.

DeSantis is generally perceived as a more stable alternative to Trump who champions many similar policies, but doesn’t engage in the same kind of showmanship.

Nonetheless, DeSantis has increasingly begun to speak his mind quite bluntly. He recently laughed openly at criticism from California Governor Gavin Newsom during a press conference.

The Bottom Line

If DeSantis just tries to be a Trump-lite, he will likely lose, but if he continues to carve out his own lane as a commonsense conservative, then he has a good shot.

Let’s wait and see what happens between Trump and DeSantis and in the upcoming midterms.
